Lieutenant John Bennett, son of Thomas Bennett Sr. was a comparatively large proprieter of lands, in 1695 he had a grant of land in Chelmsford where he settled after his marriage and received several grants or divisions of land later. He served as tithingman and Lieutenant, he was a mill owner. He and his wife Sarah deeded land in 1689 to their son-in-law Nathaniel Collar. He died May 19, 1706.
