Mary Sinclair Barrett was born in 1707, in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of John Barrett and Alice Bryen. [1] Mary married John Royston, II born circa 1692, in Baltimore, a son of John Royston, 1655-1699, and Ann Thornborough. [2] Mary and John attended the Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Baltimore, where the births of their children are recorded under variant spellings of the surname as Rystone, Reystone, Ristone, Ryston, and Royston.
John Royston, II died between 1737 and 1739 and the administrator of his estate was Henry Cross, who made payments to creditors from the estate on April 29, 1740, August 6, 1740 and December 5, 1741. [10] Mary, with six young children, married Henry Crosse, a son of John and Rachel Crosse. [11] The children of Mary and Henry are recorded at the Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Baltimore, under the surname of "Cross:"
