Biography

Elisha was born in 1799. He was the son of Jesse Barrett and Mildred Darden. He passed away in 1886.

Born in Southampton County, Virginia, he at some time moved several miles South to Hertford, North Carolina. There is a "Barretts Crossroads" in Hertford which may be related. Elisha married Mary Brandon circa 1822 and the couple had children born in Hertford. By 1830, the family was in Lexington, Stark County, Ohio where daughter Ann was born. By 1839, the family was in Indiana. Both 1850 and 1860 census reported the family in Ward, Randolph, Indiana. Sometime prior to 1870 Elisha and Mary and son J.C. Barrett were in Butler, Illinois.
