Biography

Marie Françoise Barrieau was born about 1684 in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Nicolas Barrieau (aft. 1648–aft. 1714) and Martine Hébert (bef. 1665– ).[1]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Marie Françoise appeared twice in the census.[2]

First, she appeared as Marie [recte Marie Françoise], aged 2, living with her parents, Nicolas BARILLOT [sic], aged 40 [recte 38], and Marie [recte Martine] HEBERT, aged 28.

Later, she appeared as Marie [recte Marie Françoise], aged 2 1/2, living with her parents, Nicolas BARILLOT [sic], aged 36 [recte 38], and Martine Imbert [sic] (HEBERT), aged 20. The family owned 1 gun and 3 sheep in this last entry.

She was 10 years old in 1693, living with her family in Minas.[3]. In 1701 she was counted among the girls of the family in Riviere de Kiniscour, Les Mines.[4]

Marie (16) married Alexandre Lord (24) (born in 1676 in Port-Royal, Acadie; son of Julien (Lord) Lord dit Lamontagne and Anne Charlotte Girouard) in 1701 in Port-Royal, Acadie.[5][1] Their known children were:

  1. Marie Madeleine Lord (1703–bef. 1763) .
  2. Anne Lord (1705–bef. 1756) .
  3. Jeanne Lord (1707–aft. 1790) .
  4. Jean Lord (1709–1757) .
  5. Marguerite Lord (1712–abt. 1745) .

  8. Elisabeth Lord (1719– ) .
  9. Francoise Lord (1722– ) .
  10. Pierre Lord (1724–1782) .
  11. Marie Josephe Lord (1727–1788) .

Marie died about Sep, 1757 in Annapolis Royal, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia, aged about 73.[citation needed]

Barriault-39 and Barrieau-2 appear to represent the same person because: Same name Barrieau is standard Acadian name.

Birth same estimated year, same place Same parents (see bio of Barriault-39 Same spouse, merge proposed, 1701 marriage estimate is correct Death dates no inconsistent, though no source for either and both profiles name 1718 as date.
