Born April 21, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. File was a daughter of the late Laura Agner and David Barringer. Educated in Rowan County schools, she was a homemaker. Mrs. File was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar File, and a grandson, Jimmie File Jr. Survivors include sons Jimmie (Gladys) File and Gregory (Janet) File, both of Salisbury; daughter Janet File Kerr of St. Petersburg, Va.; brother Lincoln File of Salisbury; sister Norma Lee Daniel of Salisbury; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lyerly Funeral Home's James C. Lyerly Chapel with the Rev. Gary Coble officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorials: St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146. Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the File family.
