Biography

Believed to live in "granny" This is not a 100% for sure name, circumstantial only. Living close to Ballincurragh in Granny.

Griffiths evaluation and family letters: Spring Assizes 1826 give Walter the title "high constable of poundage" meaning he supervised county expenditures for road repair, orphan care, hospital care, and was something akin to a deputy sheriff I believe? In the tithing reports he is given the title of Mr, not seen elsewhere? his name shows up in many marriage records, Southern Kilkenny as sponsor or witness. I believe he had a farm, rock quarry, near Granny.

Name connection and mentioned in family letters, tithing and Kilkenny documents, one of which gave him the title, High Constable of Poundage.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Walter by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Walter:

Witness to baptism of 2 of Eleanor's Barron Fogarty,s children were Margaret (Mary) Barron and Peter Barron, saying possibly these two were siblings of Eleanor

the existing letters mention that there are either children of Walters, or of his son John w. Barron, these names are James, Lucy, Peter, Edward, Mary, Joseph Elenoir (Ellie) and Catherine. Possibly Richard? The problem is the letters mention only the first name. James in 1850 was looking to get a megar pension we think from service in the English army, there is an Edward ( we think) that was killed at sea in a battle serving in the English navy , age 14. "Poor Lucy " died in Kilkenny in 1850/51, leaving her limited property to Joanna Roach Barron, her daughter Mary Margaret, and son Joseph which allowed them to immigrate to Missouri in 1851.

The genetic comparisons seem to say the Kilkenny Barrons in Walters line were related to some of the Fitzgeralds, but going further back in time, it appears there are ties to Scotland, Germany, and Austria. Further genetic results in 2016 show that our Barron Group is now clan 7 (Barron family history and genetic study) , and that cousins immigrated to eastern Canada (Newfoundland) in 1798. they were ,we think, from eastern county Waterford area. Across the river from Granny. Without genetics this connection would not have occurred any time soon .
