Biography

John Barron was born about 1782 to Alexander Barron Sr. and Catherine Elizabeth Berry probably in York County,South Carolina.

About 1790, Alexander Barron Sr. moved his family to Pendleton County,South Carolina when Alexander Barron Sr. appears on the 1800 Census of Pendleton County,South Carolina. Just above Alexander Barron Sr. on the census isGeorge Shields. George Shields and Alexander Barron Sr. went to Giles County,Tennessee about 1810.

John Barron married his cousin Dorcas Stephenson daughter of Robert Stephenson and Jane Barron Hope in York County,South Carolina about 1810.

John Barron and his wife Dorcas Stephenson followed Alexander Barron Sr. to Giles County,Tennessee. Dorcas Barron appears on the 1820 Census of Giles County,Tennessee as the head of the household. John Barron had died or was on his sick bed in 1820. There is no grave for John Barron.

If John Barron died before 1820, he was probably buried in an unmarked grave at the Elk Ridge Cemetery in Giles County,TN. This was the area my Stephenson,Barron, Montgomery and Shields families settled when they went to Giles County,Tennessee.
