Candace was born in 1846. In 1850, Candace was living with her mother and stepfather, John Coats, in Dresden.[1] Her father had died in 1847. Candace's mother died in 1853. In 1860, Candace is 14 and living in a household with Martha Barron, Homer Barron, Laura Barron & Sallie Barron.[2]
Candace married Silas Kain on 8 March 1864 in Muskingum County.[3] They were living in Dresden in 1880[4] and 1900.[5]
Widowed in March 1910, Candace was still in Dresden. Several children and two grandsons are living with her.[6] In 1920, Candace had two daughters and a grandson living with her.[7]
Candace died 12 April 1924 in Dresden. Burial was at Dresden Cemetery.[8]
Dresden Woman Is Taken From Life
"An illness from heart disease resulted in the death of Mrs. Candace Kain, aged 78, a well know and highly respected resident of Dresden, which occurred at her home there at 7 o'clock Saturday morning. The funeral was conducted at the home at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning and interment was made in the Dresden cemetery.
Mrs. Kain is survived by the following children: Edward V. Kain of Eureka, Calif.; Mrs. Bessie Gregory, Miss Lillian Kain and Mrs. Mabel Henderson all of the house."[9]
