Biography

Jane was a Friend (Quaker)

Jane was born about 1720.

On 3 September 1746 she married Joshua Jones at the Perquimans Monthly Meeting[1].

They had one child, Joseph, born in about 1749.

Joshua passed away in 1750-2 but certainly before his father's will is probated in April 1753. In his father's will his portion is given to their son Joseph.

On 3 December 1755 she remarried to Joseph Jordan at the Perquimans Meeting House[2]. Jane's son became his ward.

Joseph was a schoolteacher and in January 1756 he petitioned for the right to set up an "Ordinary at his then Dwelling House" near the bridge over the Little River (where Woodville now lies)[3].

When Joseph Jones' grandmother, Mary Jones, died intestate in July 1758 a portion of her estate was given "to Joseph Jordan, in right of his ward Joseph Jones"[4].

Her husband, Joseph, passed away 4 July 1760 in Perquimans[5]. Jane did not remarry again.

Jane passed away 10 October 1789[5].
