Private Reuben Barrow served with Burke County Militia, Georgia Militia during the American Revolution.

Reuben Barrow is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A206214.

Reuben Barrow was born about 1749[citation needed]

He married Milbre[1] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. James Barrow[1]
  2. John Barrow[1]
  3. Absolom Barrow[1]
  4. Ferriby Barrow[1]
  5. Edy Barrow[1]

Rheuben Barrow was granted 150 acres in St. George Parish, Georgia by Governor James Wright on 02 Aug 1774.[2]

He served as a minute man during the Revolutionary War, having received service certicates from Col John Stewart on 15 Dec 1784 and Col. E. Clark on 03 Jan 1785.[3][4]

On 07 Apr 1785 Reuben Barrow received 287 1/2 acres in Washington County, Georgia bounded on the west by Robert Alexander, other sides vacant, the property being cut on the east and west by Big Creek[3]

On 16 Feb 1790, Edward Telfair, Governor of Georgia, granted Reubin Barrow 300 acres of land in Richmond County, Georgia bounded to the Southeast by Allens and Barrows land and the Burke County line, to the Northwest by vacant land and Currys land.[5][6]

In 1807 Reubin took part in Georgia's second land lottery and, as a resident of Devereaux's District in Warren County, was a winner of lot 324 in district 24 of Wilkinson County, Georgia[7]

Reuben died after 17 Aug 1812, the date his will was signed on that in Warren County, Georgia and before 02 Nov 1812 when it was probated.[8][1]

Georgia, Warren County}This being my last Will and testament made this seventeenth day of August, in Eighteen hundred and twelve. In the Name of God, Amen. After resigning my soul to god, who gave it, and my Body unto the dust form which it was taken, to be decently buried, at the discretion of my surviving friends.
Item, I give to my beloved wife Milbre, a Negro man, by the name of Joe, and his wife Milly, and also one hundred acres of land laying in Pulaski County, being part of the tract of land known by number three hundred and twenty three also one half of my live stock and one hal fof my household and kitchen furniture, and also half of my plantation and working tools. One pleasure chair (?) or ? to have and to hold the above mentioned property during her natural life, widowhood or good behavior
Item, I give to my son James, the other half of my livestock, household and kitchen furniture, and plantation and working tools, and also that hundred acres of land left to my wife, at her death, or misbehavior, and also a Negro girl, by the name of Silvey, and a Negro by the name of George. The first living child that Silva brings forth, to my Grand Daughter Nancy, a daughter of my son James Barrow.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son John, the other half of the tract of land he now lives on.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son Absolom, one Negro boy, by thename of Bob.
Item, I give and bequeath my daughter Ferriby, one cow and calf, and five dollars
Item, I give and bequeath my daughter Edy, one cow and calf, and five dollars.
And it is my will and desire, for the balance of my estate that is not otherwise disposed of, shall be equally divided amongst all my children, except my daughters Edy and Ferriby.
I do hereby nominate and appoint my sons James and Absolom Barrow my executors of this my last Will and Testament. Whereas I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Probate of the above Will, Personally appeared in open court, Benjamin Bledsoe and William Branner and being duly sworn on the Holy Everlasting of Almighty God. Dispose and saith, each for himself, "That he saw the written name Reuben Barrow, sign, seal, Pronounce and declare the written instrument of writing as his Last Will and Testament. And that at the time of his doing, he was in the opinion of these defendants of sound and disposing mind and memor: and at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other, and of the other supporting witness, Rich Bledsoe, and Giles Bledsoe and at his request they became truthfully hereunto sworn and subscribed in open court, this 2nd day of November 1812

The said Clement Forbes for five hundred silver dollars paid by Phillip Gibbs sells land containing 350 acres on the north and south sides of Rocky comfort creek,patented by Richard Barrow,grant bearing date Aug 2nd 1774, containing two grants.
