Patrick Barry was born 15 Nov 1868 to his parents Michael Barry and Catherine (Kate) Dickson from Ireland. Patrick resided with his family in Formoyle Eighteragh East, Formoyle, Clare, Ireland as a young child.
Patrick enrolled at Mungret College in Limerick Ireland in 1887, taking exams in the Royal University of Ireland from which he graduated in 1890.
In 1890, he began his studies for the priesthood at St. Patrick's College in Carlow. As a seminarian, he was recruited to serve the missions in Florida in the United States.
Along with their sister "Mother Mary Gerald Barry", Patrick and his brother William became the cofounders and first presidents of Barry College in Miami Shores, Florida.
Rev. Patrick Frank Barry DD was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of St. Augustine from 1922 until his death in 1940.
Reverend (Bishop) Patrick Barry died from a heart ailment at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 71.
