Lucy was the daughter of Herbert Barry Jr. and Lucy Brown.
At age 6 in 1940, Lucy was living in Cambridge, Massachusetts with Herbert Barry age 41 b NY and Louise, age 34 b France. Her brother Herbert Barry was age 9 b NY; her sister Patricia Barry was age 8 b Mass.[1]
She was the second wife of Robert Samuel Robe.
"The future bride is the daughter of Dr. Herbert Barry Jr. and Mrs. Manning Barry, both of Boston, and a granddaughter of the late Manning Brown, a New York architect. Mr. Robe is the son of the late Mr. Robe of Far Hills, N. J., and the late Mrs. Helen Ewald Robe of New York.
Miss Barry, a writer and former theatrical production assistant on Broadway, was presented at the Debutante Cotillion in Boston and graduated with the class of ‘55 from Radcliffe College. She is the author of a novel for young adults, “Stagestruck Secretary,” published by William Morrow and in paper back by Lancer Books.
Her father is a psychiatrist affiliated with the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School. Her fiancé's father owned a textile firm.
Mr. Robe, a yachtsman, is president of the Robodor Corporation, yacht charterers and brokers with offices in New York and Grenada, W.I. An alumnus of the Lawrenceville School, class of ‘49, and the University of Virginia, class of ‘56, he did graduate work in history at the University of Paris. During the Korean war he served, with the Marine Corps. His marriage ended in divorce.[2]
