He was the son of Captain Thomas Jefferson Barry, 11-22-1835 to 9-8-1909. His mother was his father's first wife, Martha "Mattie" Northington, 1846-1872.
"Joseph Kemp Barry born 1-11-1870 went to Wheeler, Oregon about 1890 where he died 10-9-1953. He located at a homestead on Girds Or. directly after his marriage in 1893. In 1905 he purchased the store at Twickenham where he served as postmaster for several years. Later he had a ranch up the John Day River 4 miles from Twickenham. This was his home until he sold and moved to Fossil in 1945.
Kemp Barry married Molly May Parrish 6-18-1893. She was born about 1872 in what is now Wheeler Co. She lives in Fossil. They had 3 sons and 4 girls".[1]
