We regret to announce the death of Mr. F, Bartels, the artist, who succumbed to an attack of typhoid fever at an early hour this morning after a brief illness. Mr. Bartels, who was a son of the late A. H. Bartels, a former, mayor of Adelaide, had achieved a reputation as an artist, , more especially by the great excellence of his pen and ink drawings. The great beauty of his work has been evidenced by the illustrations on many addresses which have been presented to prominent people, but his artistic efforts took a wider range than this, as was shown by an exhibition of his more serious work held in Rundle-street some time since. Mr. Bartels gave promise of a distinguished career awaiting him as an artist had he not been removed by the hand of death at an early age.^[1]
