He married Elsie Lydia Westendorf on Jan. 22, 1929 at St. Michael's Chathedral in Wagga New South Wales.
WEDDING
BARTHOLOMEW-WESTENDORF
On January 22, at St. Michael's Cathedral, Wagga, Father Larkins officiated at the marriage of Miss Elsie Lydia Westendorf, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Westendorf of Currawarra to Mr. John Hannon Bartholomew son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Bartholomew, of Tooyal. The bride wore a dainty, simple frock of ivory silk crepe de chine and a handsome tulle veil, lent by Mrs. Brown, Sydney, a friend of the bride's mother. The veil was held in place by coronet of orange blossom. The bridesmaid was Miss Rita Bartholomew who was frocked neatly in power blue crepe-de-chene. Mr. Alec Westendorf was best man. The wedding luncheon was served at the Wonderland Cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Westendorf[sic] later left for their honeymoon, which will be spent in Sydney and on the Blue Mountains. The bride's travelling costume was of beige crepe de chine with rose embroidered coat and hat to tone.

Together they became the parents of Henry Jackson Bartholomew, John Dalkeith Vincent Bartholomew, and Rita Pauline (Bartholomew) Hoare Bevestock.
John died May 1, 1983 and was buried at Wagga Wagga Lawn Cemetery & Crematorium in Lake Albert, New South Wales. [3]
