Biography
Samuel was born in 1837 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of James Bartle and Sarah Atkinson. In late 1863 he married Ellen Kennedy. They settled in Windhill, Yorkshire where they had 4 known children. It is believed she passed away as he married again on 12 May 1888 at St. Wilfried, Calverley, Yorkshire to Hannah Baron. They had 1 known child. Living the remainder of his life in West Yorkshire, it is here he passed away in 1900. He is buried at the Windhill Cemetery.
His occupation on census records is listed as "stone quarry".
