Biography

Joseph was a Mariner.

Joseph was born in 1740. He is the son of Joseph Bartlett and Dorothy Wadsworth.

Probate

Joseph Bartlett of Kingston, mariner died intestate and on 1 December 1788, Seth Drew of Kingston was granted the administration of his estate.[1]

His inventory was taken on 29 January 1789 in Kingston.[2]

In 1789, an account of his estate by Seth Drew was recorded which included allowance to the widow, provisions for the family, debts paid, taxes, and administration fees.[3]

In 1793, an account of his estate by Seth Drew was recorded which included, a cash advance to the widow, funeral charges of Ichabod Bartlett one of the heirs of the deceased, debts paid, household furniture warn out or lost, allowance to the widow for support of her son Charles in his infancy, and administration fees.[4]

In 1794, his widow Lurania received her dower, and the remaining real estate was set out to his children, Joseph Bartlett (eldest son), Seth Bartlett, Lysander Bartlett, Charles Bartlett, Lurania Bartlett, and Sarah Bartlett.[5]

In 1794, his widow Lurania was appointed guardian of his minor children, Lysander Bartlett, Sarah Bartlett, and Charles Bartlett, all under the age of 14 years.[6]
