John Heard was born in Kittery, Maine, in 1726, the son of Nathan Bartlett and Shuah Heard.[1] He graduated from Harvard College with the class of 1747, and settled in Eliot, Maine, near Bartlett's Hill.
He married Dorcas Moulton of York, Maine, in 1747.[2] She died in 1788, and he married six months later to Elizabeth Plaisted Atkinson the widow of Nicholus Shapleigh . He married a third time to Mrs. Bertha Merriam of Berwick, Maine, in 1799. He had a total of 11 children, all with his first wife Dorcas. [3]
They resided at Kittery, where they were living at the time of the 1790 census.[4] He died in 1805.[5]
