Biography

Waldo Bartlett was born in 1824 in Strongsville, Ohio. He was the son of Seth Bartlett and Rebecca Nichols. During the Civil War, he fought on the Union side and was enlisted in Company H, Iowa 2nd Cavalry Regiment on 5 Sep 1861. He mustered out on 16 Oct 1861 at Davenport, Iowa.

After the war, Waldo married Nancy Jane Hardy on February 14, 1863, in Johnson County, Iowa. He then married Hester Ann Wildman on April 18, 1871. For the 1885 Iowa State census, Waldo said he was divorced.

He died on March 26, 1899, in Marshalltown, Iowa, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery.
