N103According to Dan Tyree's research: Walter was a small man who lived in the cave country of Ky before moving to the Calm/Myrtle, MO area after 1880. Reportedly lazy, living with and letting himself be supported by his son Sherman, may never have owned any land, ill-humored and irritable. Notorious as a womanizer and even brought women into his home in front of his wife.
Not certain if he is the James Bartley who served in the Union Army from Ky.
