MRS. S. G. ROUNTREE - SEVENTY-SIX YEARS COLONIST -
An old and highly respected resident of Auckland, Mrs. S. G. Rountree, died on October 23rd aged 79 years. Mrs. Rountree was born in Jersey, being the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bartley. She arrived in Auckland with her parents by the Joseph Fletcher in 1854. Miss Bartley was married in 1874 to the late Mr. S. G. Rountree, who was well known as manager of the Auckland Savings Bank, while the present manager, Mr. Clem. Bartley is her brother. Her service to the many activities connected with the Baptist churches of Auckland met with the full appreciation of those with whom she was associated and her personal benefactions to the needy will be remembered by very many. Her sons are Mr. Harry Rountree, the well known artist, now of London, and Mr. E. G. Rountree, of Henderson. The daughters are Mrs. A. L. Ferneyhough, Mrs. Samuel Barry, Mrs. J. P. Mourant, Mrs. W. R. Ellingham and Mrs. H. L. Richards. The interment took place at O'Neils Point Cemetery.
