Together, they were the parents of the famous Clarissa "Clara" Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross. Captain Stephen Barton Junior was a businessman, selectman, and leader of his local militia in Oxford, Worcester, Massachusetts. He passed away in 1862 in Oxford, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.
