Moses Barton was born in Appalachia, in Alabama.

Note: Moses was a Primitive Baptist Minister. He and his wife, Martha, owned a store in Victor.

Aged Man Dies Under Wheels of Locomotive

Moose [sic] Barton, 76, was struck by an eastbound Frisco passenger train shortly after 1 o'clock today at the South Main street crossing and instantly killed. [2]

Eye witnesses said the old man was almost across the mainline track when struck by the engine. The body was carried about 100 feet up the track. Apparently he had not heard the whistle and bell of the engine, nor had the heeded the flagman at the intersection.

William Harvell, the flagman, was in the center of the intersection but did not see Barton. He had vehicle traffic flagged aghead of the train, but at no time saw Barton crossing the street.

Barton, with his wife, made his home on East Jackson avenue. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Archie Miller of Sweetwater, Okla., and Mrs. Lillian Hildebrand of Mayfield, Okla., and one son, John Barton, Vian, Okla.

Man Killed by Train Here to Be Buried At Victory, Okla.

Funeral services for Mose Barton, 91-year-old city resident who was instantly killed by a Frisco passenger train early Monday afternoon at the railroad's Main street crossing here, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Victory, Okla. [3]

Burial will be made in the Victory cemetery under the direction of the Sullivan funeral home here.

Barton, a retired farmer, was well known in Bristow, having resided here for a number of years with his wife, who survives , at 712 South Main street. He was born January 16, 1848, at Jasper, Ala. Eight chidlren also survive.

The aged man walked directly in front of the train, despite bell and whistle warnings, witnesses said. A flagman was also working at the intersection, stopping automobile traffic.

Barton was almost across the tracks when struck by the engine. His body was draffed about 100 feet along the right-of-way.
