Was Thomas Barton the son of William and Sarah Marsham Barton of Calvert County?
This profile has previously been linked to William Barton and his wife Sarah. They lived in different parts of Maryland and there is no evidence of a relationship, so they have been disconnected.Day-1904 13:55, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Did Thomas Barton have a son named Matthew Barton?
A son named Matthew Barton was previously linked to this profile; he was said to have been born 1726 in Stafford County, Colony of Virginia to Thomas Barton I and Abbigail (Blinn) Barton, died 1800 in Missouri or Lone Star, Douglas, Kansas. Based on the descendants of that Matthew Barton, and the lack of any sources on the the involved profiles, they have been disconnected as father & son.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
I've updated the profile with information from Barnes' book on Baltimore County families. No evidence has been found of where Thomas was born; I left in the material giving him a birth in Hertfordshire, Englands, but there is no source for this. I have found no reason to connect him to the family of William Barton and his wife Sarah Marsham who lived in southern Maryland, so I have disconnected him, leaving links under Research Notes in case some evidence is found.
More research is needed to determine which of the currently linked wives is correct, or if they should be merged; also, Barnes does not list a son named Matthew.
Barton-6148 and Barton-1475 appear to represent the same person because: except for the country of birth they are identical. If we can merge them please. now I have Thomas Barton the III to put on... thank you
My only question is the birthplace of thomas. Since his father was born in Charles Co., Maryland Jun 29, 1662 I find it unlikely that he is the same man born in Hertfordshire, England. I think more research needs to be done to verify Thomas Barton's birthplace.
More research is needed to determine which of the currently linked wives is correct, or if they should be merged; also, Barnes does not list a son named Matthew.
