Biography

Dorota Bartuzel was born on January 11, 1875, in Mogilno in Dobroń parish, in Poland^[1]. In Poland under Russian rule at that time there were two calendar systems in use: the "old style" Julian calendar, and the "new style" Gregorian calendar; the difference between them in 19th century was 12 days. Because of that Dorota's birth date is written as "December 30 / January 11 of 1874 / 1875 year". Her parents were Jakub Bartuzel and his second wife Marianna Bartuzel born Nowak. They were farmers living in Mogilno.

She was baptized the same day, January 11. The witnesses were Roch Madej, aged 50, and Bartłomiej Madej, aged 53, farmers from Mogilno. The ceremony was led by rev. Walenty Mruk. The godparents were Wawrzyniec Bartuzel and Wiktoria Madej.

Dorota Bartuzel married Walenty Baczyński, son of Walenty and Marianna born Kolasa, on June 29, 1896, in Dobroń, Poland ^[2]. The witnesses were Wawrzyniec Bartuzel, aged 46, and Józef Madej, aged 46. The ceremony was led by rev. Marcjan Włostowski.

They had at least two daughters^[3]:

• Władysława Bartuzel, born in 1898;
• Cecylia Bartuzel, born in 1900.

There is no record of her death in Dobroń parish up to 1915.
