Biography

John was born on November 19, 1912 in Thomasville, Thomas County, Georgia to parents Luther Leonard Barwick and Laura A. (Holloway) Barwick. His family moved to Florida when he was 1 year old . He attended elementary school in Delray Beach. After moving to Ft Lauderdale in 1928, he attended and graduated in 1933 from Ft. Lauderdale High School. John moved to Hollywood in 1934 working in the grocery business. He married Rosa Marie (Orr) Barwick (1916-2004) on September 25, 1935 in Broward County, Florida. They had 2 children together;

John worked as a life insurance agent until WWII when he served in the Army Air Force. Following discharge he was employed by the US Postal Service until retirement in 1971. Following his retirement, he continued to work for the Parks and Recreation Department of Hollywood, Broward County, Florida.

John died on December 7, 1999 in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia at the age of 87 years. He was buried at the Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens East Cemetery located in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida.
