Samuel Bascom, the eldest son of Thomas Bascom 3rd and Hannah (Catlin) Bascom, was born January 27, 1692 at Northhampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.[1] A few years after the death of his father in 1714, he and his mother sold the family homestead to Benjamin Stebbins, then purchasing, from William Holton, an estate near the Connecticut River, in Northhampton.[2]
Samuel and Experience Parsons were married May 10, 1722[3] and on 13 of June 1723, their son, Samuel[4] was born. In 1728, their twin sons Aaron[5] and Moses[6] were born, and he also acquired the adjoining property but In the spring of 1733 they left this large estate on the river, heading east to the village of Cold Spring. Someplace in this time frame, their two young sons Moses and Aaron died and then Experience died Nov ember 29,1740. Samuel remarried 18 Sept 1750 to Sarah, widow of Comfort Barnes of Brookfield[2] Samuel died November 22, 1765 at Western, Hampshire County, (now Warren) and is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Warren[2] along with Experience.
