Using deeds and censuses I can narrow Matthew's birth between 1756-1766. Samuel Bass' wife, Elizabeth died sometime after 1755. A 1773 court case names his wife as Sarah. I have been unable to determine if Matthew's mother is Elizabeth or Sarah, though I lean toward Elizabeth.
