Biography

1796 Green Co, KY Tax List - ; pdf, Internet Archives  Albert D Bell, Bass Families of the South (read 3 Jul 2020), p 2; image 230.

In 1799 Josiah married Ann Moody. [1] There are websites out there stating that he also married Elizabeth Walker in Virginia before coming to KY. Given that Josiah was surety on the 1803 marriage bond for his sister Elizabeth Walker to marry his brother-in-law George Moody, urge caution til there is a record.

1800 - Josiah Sr & Jr are listed in the 1800 tax list printed copy of 1800 tax list on ancestry

1801 - Josiah & his father pay sheriff's fees in Green Co for the previous year. [2]

1808 - Josiah & his father in the tax list for Green Co that year and enumerated in Grayson, Green Co, KY in 1810 [3]

1820 census - Summersville, KY - He and the adult woman in the census are both over 45. hence the birthyear of before 1775.

Josiah shows up in the 1827 & 1828 estate settlement papers of his father Josiah, who died intestate prior to 1812 and whose estate settlement took a very long time.

1830 census - Green Co, KY - From the tick marks, Ann appears to be alive, and is now 10 years younger than her husband. There are several grown children or children-in-law living with them. [4]
