Biography

Ethel Rae BASS was born 16 May 1905 in Westbrooks Township, Sampson, North Carolina, United States. She is the daughter of Martin Bass and Julia Wilson.

She passed away ^[1] 23 Jan 2008 in Clinton Twp, Sampson, North Carolina, United States. BURIAL Springvale Cemetery Clinton Twp., Sampson County, North Carolina, USA.

Mrs. Ethel Bass Warren, 103, of 106 E. Faison Street, Clinton, died Wednesday at her home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Warren, born in 1904 in the northern Sampson County community of Timothy, was the daughter of the late Martin B. Bass and Julia Wilson Bass and the widow of Lorenzo Blake Warren. She recieved her early education in Shady Grove School, and completed her perparation for a career in teaching at Pineland Girls School and Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, NC. She taught first grade at Halls School for a number of years before she married in 1927. She returned to the school room during World War II. In 1946, she assumed the position as manager of Clinton High School Cafeteria, a position she held for more than 20 years. She was a long-time member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, McWilson Warren and wife Mary of Grafton, NH; a grandson, James Warren of Milwaukee, WI; A large number of nieces, nephews and grand and great nieces and nephews.

The family recieved friends from 6-8pm, Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the General Fund of the Graves Memorial Presbyterian Chuch, 201 Fayetteville Street, Clinton, NC. 28328.

An interment service was held at 1pm, Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Clinton City Cemetery with a memorial service held at 2pm, Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Louie Andrews officiating.

Burial was made in Clinton City Cemetery.
