John Frederick born in 1843 was a saddler in 1861 and visitor to the farm of Frederick Sharp at Welby. He married Susan or Susanna Hakeman from Fleet, at Holbeach on 10 December 1863, witnessed by Bailey Hakeman and Harriet Bass. In 1871 John F Bass was living next door to Robert Goulding and was 28 a farmer of 227 acres employing 8 men 2 boys and 2 women and living there with wife Susan from Fleet 29, Lydia A 3, Harriet 1 and mother Ann Bass 55. He was a farmer of 232 acres in Holbeach, employing 8 men in 1881 and had four children. John Frederick Bass farmer & Grazier at Holbeach died on 4 June 1883.
