Robert Emmett Bass III was born in Virginia in 1867 to Robert Emmett Bass Jr. (1831–1908) and Martha Susan Bruce Bass (1838–1920).[1] He is listed with his parents on both: the 1870 Census[2] and the 1880 Census.[3] He married Lydia Margaret Crannis on November 25, 1891 in Halifax, North Carolina.[4] The couple had at least four children before his death at the age of 35 in April of 1903.[5]
