William was born on 4 July 1865, in Sailors Gully, Eaglehawk, Victoria.[1] He was the son of James Bassett and Eleanor Symons. He was baptised in St Peters Church, Eaglehawk on 6 September 1865.[2]
He passed away on 30 Dec 1865 in Sailors Gully, Eaglehawk, Victoria, after 2 weeks of diarrhoea at the age of six months. [3] He is buried with his father in Eaglehawk Cemetery in Section G - Row 1, burial plot # 15G.[4]
