Hans Basso has Italian Roots.

Johann was born on 22 DEC 1901 in Herdecke, Germany. [1] As his birth information is from the civil registration there should be no doubt about the mother who gave birth in front of witnesses. The same cannot be said for his father as the act of procreation bares witnesses.

He passed away on 19 MAR 1945 in Duisburg due to being fatally hit by an artillery shell. [2].

He was killed in the last days of the WWII whilst being in his hometown, just about to leave the city as the allies had taken already parts of the city.

I was told by my father that he was hit by artillery fire from the left side of the river Rhine, either from British or American forces, and that his dead body was lying there for several days as he was almost unrecognisable.

He was working as a train driver and never served in the army during WWII
