Biography

Nathalie was born on 22 June 1738 and baptized the next day in Annapolis Royal (was called Port-Royal until 1710). She was the daughter of Pierre Bastarache and Marguerite Forest. [1][2]

She married Justinien Comeau on 17 February 1756 in Petitcoudiac in the presence of Toussaint Blanchard, Ambroise Blanchard, Antoine Boudrot, Francois de L'Isle and other relatives and friends.[3]

During the winter of 1756-1757 they found refuge at Camp d'Espérance in Miramichi. Other members of the Comeau family were there as well as her brothers Michel and Pierre.[4]

The Comeau family made its way to Annapolis Royal (formerly called Port-Royal) where they were enumerated in 1763 with 2 children. [5]

She passed away before May 26, 1819. This estimated date of death of Nathalie (Bastarache) Comeau is based on two Codicils to her husband Justinien's will: one is dated Jan 12, 1815 "signed" by Nathalie (her mark) and May 26, 1819 NOT signed by Nathalie. Making the assumption the Justinien is widowed by May 26, 1819.
