From the eldest, Anslac de Bastembourg, came the Bertrams, Sires de Briquebec, and the younger house of Montfort-sur-Rille. [1]
"In the rebellion of Rioulf of St. Sauveur against William Longsword in 933, Anslech, baron of Briquebec, is mentioned by Wace as being one of the three barons who remained faithful to the duke, by rendering him military service at the siege of Rouen. After the duke's death, Anslach was appointed one of the three guardians of his son, the young Duke Robert, at a crisis which required a rare union of courage, firmness, and discretion, and he fulfilled his trust with infinite reputation to himself, and advantage to his country." ANSFRID, son of --- . His name and that of his son suggest that this family was of Viking origin, which is confirmed by Guillaume of Jumièges who names [his son] “Turstenus cognomento Guz, Ausfridi Dani filius...præses Oximensis”[101].
Um, in the biography, he is the father of himself (Anslec was the child of Anflec Lancelot Brioquibec and Gerlotte DeBlois. Anslec passed away in 1020. [1]): the link brings one back to this same profile. Is this the result of an earlier merge? Thanks!
m ---. The name of Ansfrid's wife is not known.
