Thomas was born about 1768. He came to be a footman for Queen Charlotte in 1809 and went on to work for Kings George III, George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria as Page of the Backstair. How that happened is unclear, though it was a family rumor he was an illegitimate son of George III and Amy "Batchelor" (possibly Lightfoot). Records show an Amy Batchelor living in a tenement house on Royal property collecting a royal pension at the time of King George III's madness. Another family tree (unsourced) shows his parents as Thomas Batchelor and Elizabeth.
Thomas married Anne Shaw of Leamington, Warwickshire in 1819. They had two sons and two daughters. The younger son, Charles, stayed a bachelor and joined the Indian Army (Bengal Cavalry) and retired as a general.
Thomas retired from Page service in 1861. Thomas passed away about 1868. Queen Victoria visited him when he was close to death.
