Daniel was born in December 1837. He fought in the Civil War. Reportedly, he enlisted in the Army in Chicago in April 1861.
He died in Chicago in February 1863. The cause listed was "bleeding of the lungs". His father's obituary stated that Daniel had died at the Battle of Pittsburgh Landing (Shiloh) in 1862. It's possible that he was either wounded, or that he contracted tuberculosis, and was sent to the hospital in Chicago.
