Biography
Adrian Bateman (Harry's Great Nephew) provided this:
I have in my possession a copy of a letter to my great grandfather Harry Edward George Bateman, 16 Western Broadway, Hammersmith from the Privy Purse Office, Buckingham Palace, dated 28th June, 1915 which says:
"Sir,
"I have the honour to inform you and your wife that The King has heard with much interest that you have at the present moment six sons serving in the Army.
"I am commended to express to you that His Majesty much appreciates the spirit of patriotism which prompted this example, in one family, of loyalty and devotion to their Sovereign and Empire.
"I have the honour to be, Sir, Your obedient Servant " and it is signed with a name that appears to be T or J M Parsons, "Keeper of the Privy Purse".
