Biography
William was born in 1874, the son of Charles Bateman (1849-1899) and Mary Ann Absolom (abt.1850-1875). [1]
In 1895 he married Ellen Louise Holm (1873-1941). [2]
They had 11 children. 9 survived to adulthood.
William passed away in 1939, aged 65 [64y 11m 3d]. [3] The registry shown pob as St. Kilda, rather than Sandridge. Mothers name mis-transcribed as "ABLSON."

- BATEMAN.—On June 12, at 30 York-street, Glenferrie, William George, loving husband of Ellen, and fond father of Lou, Jim, Wal, Lilly (Mrs. Jensen), Vic. (Mrs. Casely). Will, Eileen (Mrs. Barclay), Len and George, aged 65. At rest.
He was buried in Burwood Cemetery. [5] Ellen joined him in 1941.
