Under your ID menu on the top right is the menu item for Privacy. It tells you information about the 7 layers of privacy that Wikitree has. Wikitree is very secure. You can search for your relatives from the search box at the top of your profile and use Familysearch.org (also free) to find sources or for trying to find the links you are looking for.
To do this, please click on the upgrade link on either your navigation or profile page.
After you have upgraded, I would suggest that you go to the profile manager of your direct family member's if they already exist on Wikitree, and ask him/her to put you on the trusted list. This will allow you to make all of the changes necessary to your direct family members.

If you want to communicate with cousins or others about genealogy (whether or not you want to add profiles on our single family tree, you can upgrade at no cost to the Family Member level at any time by adding your genealogy communication preferences.
