  • 24 Dec 1913 Marriage #2: Edwin Bateman (51, oil extractor, a widower) of 54 Talbot St., Batley, Yorkshire marriage after banns to Mary Alice Ineson (41, spinster) of St Johns Road, Birkdale, Lancashire in St John’s church, Birkdale (Southport), Lancashire on 24 Dec 1913. Fathers on record; Henry Bateman, deceased (a warehouseman) and John Ineson, deceased (an overlooker at mill). Marriage registered with Ormskirk, Lancashire Registrar 4Q 1913.

**** NLH Note: Records show an Edwin H Bateman of Batley, as KIA in WWI in 1918. Several trees on Ancestry, My Heritage and FamilySearch assign this death to our Edwin Henry Bateman (b. 1859) but this is almost certainly his nephew Edwin Henry Bateman born in Batley 3Q 1895 - our Edwin would have been 59 years old in 1918 - way too old to be a private fighting in the trenches.

  • 1921 Census: Edwin Bateman (59y 2m, born in Heckmondwike, an oil extractor at J. S. Rhodes Woolen Manufacturers at Prospect Mills in Morley) living at 33 East Park Street, Morley, Yorkshire with his wife Mary Alice Bateman (48y 10m, born in Batley Carr) and her widowed mother Ann Ineson (83y 10m, born in Ossett).
  • 2Q 1929 Death: An Edwin Bateman (70) death is recorded in Flyde Lancashire 2Q 1929 - considered most likely.
