Biography

Samuel Bates was born in 1648 to parents James and Anne Withington Bates.

In 1676 he married Mary Chapman according to Vital Records of Saybrook, 1647-1834 (The Connecticut Historical Society, Hartford, 1952) Page 11: "Samuell Bate was married to Mary Chapman 2d of May 1676"

Samuel and Mary had nine children.

Samuel died in 1699.
