Biography

Joseph Bates was born the 6th of May, 1687, at Hingham ("Conahasset", now Cohasset), Suffolk (now in Norfolk) County, MA, to Joseph Bates & Mary (Lincoln) Bates.[1][2]

Joseph's intention to marry Deborah Clapp, was published the 15th August, 1713.[2] The actual marriage took place the 10th of September, 1713, at Scituate, Plymouth County, MA.[3]

He died the 7th of April, 1750 at Hingham.[4][2]

Joseph was deacon of the church in the second precinct.[2]

He was a surveyor of highways 1717.[2]

Constable 1722, etc.[2]

Joseph's Will was written the 10th of March, 1747, at Hingham, MA, & probate began the 19th of April, 1750.[5] Aug. 24, 1750, Samuel Bate was appointed to administer upon the est. of his late father, Joseph Bate, deceased.[2]

"Mason."[2]

Resided on the paternal homestead.[2]

Bates-7658 and Bates-1564 appear to represent the same person because: Sorry, I entered this and didn't see a suggested match

Your notes below list death date as 1750 which matches my Father's data - but the entry says 1753 - maybe a typo.
