Biography

Mr. Gary Wayne Bates, age 61, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 23, 1947 in Paulding County, Georgia, son of the late Mr. J. P. (James Pink) Bates and the late Mrs. Katie (Elizabeth) Baxter Bates. Mr. Bates worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Charlene Hicks Bates of Villa Rica; his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Brian Butler of Dallas, Annie and Joe Norris of Hampton, Pam Bates of Hampton and Dana Howard of Villa Rica; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Bates, Courtney Butler, Matthew Hutchinson, Bailey Butler, Jessica McLean, Justin McLean, Noel Norris, Aidan Howard and Josh Howard also survive.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 6:00 PM from the Callie Harbin Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia with Rev. Gary Hicks and Rev. Jerry Hollis officiating. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Reba Annette Bates Brooks, June 30, 2008.
