Disputed Origins

A previous verson of this profile listed John Bates, a Quaker, and his wife Susannah as this Susannah’s parents. John died before sje was born and she is not named as a child in his will. They have been detached.

Biography

Susannah's parents and date of birth are uncertain, but she is was probably born about 1730 and is believed to be a Bates. She married John Royall of Halifax County, Virginia, about 1748. They were the parents of eight children, Elizabeth, Sarah, William, John, Mary, Susanna, Joseph, and Richard, all named in John's will. Susannah was living at the time of John's death and was granted administration of his estate. [1] Susannah died after 1766.

Dorman’s “Adventurers of Purse and Person” lists children Fleming, John, Charles, James, Hannah, and George. No Susannah. John and Susannah Bates both died while Susannah Royall was alive left wills. I think Susannah Royall is attached to the wrong parents.

What is the documentation for Susannah Bates and her husband?

I'm not sure how this happened but John Royall-363 needs to merge with John Royall-75.
Bates-3125 and Bates-2379 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicates
