James Bates was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to Colony of New South Wales
James was convicted[3] of stealing and transported to the Colony of New South Wales on the Grenada, arriving on the 21st October 1819. He received a Certificate of Freedom[4] on Thursday, 15 September 1825.
James married[5]Elizabeth Beecham Alcock on Thursday, 28th February 1822 in St John's Church of England Cathedral, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. Together they had 6 children.
