1882 on 18th September 1882 there must have been a riot in Barnsley, as a number of people were sentenced to a spell in prison or a fine for being drunk and disorderly. Among them was Noah, who was sentenced to 10 days confinement or 19 shillings fine. He is recorded as being born in Stamford, belonging to the Church of England, having no education, being 50 years old, 5 foot 1 1/4 inches tall with grey hair, and a brickmaker. He had a cut above his left eyebrow and was bald on top! He had no previous convictions. He must have opted for confinement rather than a fine as he was discharged on 27th September along with the other culprits.
