Biography

Nathaniel was born 27 January 1843. Although the 1911 census records his birth year as 1842[1] the family bible records his birth year as 1843, as does the Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Records and the 1901 Canadian Census. He was christened on the 19th of May, 1846 by Reverend S Huntington.[2]

He was the son of Nathaniel Bates and Lydia Darlington.

In 1911, Nathaniel was living in Grenville, Ontario, Canada with his wife, Myrtle, and children, Gordon, Susie, Liddie and Charlie.[1]

He passed away 22 April 1918 of cerebral apoplexy and was buried in the Wolford Rural United Cemetary.
