His physical description was 5'8", 150 lbs, 'Negro', dark brown complexion, brown eyes, gray hair, missing left leg, using a wooden prosthesis.[1]

The Mary Batiste profile connected by an editor cannot have been his daughter with their dates of birth. He would have been only nine years old when she was born. She might be a sister or a cousin. Joseph Batiste was not an uncommon name in the time and place.
